I know this is an old post and you might not even see it, but I have to comment anyway being from South Florida and being one of those people who panic at the mention of "hurricane". Just look back at my many blog posts about hurricanes and I can't deny it. I've never been in an earth quake although I married in California and my mother fell so much in love with it that she bought property on the San Andreas fault and I kept having nightmares the earth would open up and swallow her (never happened).

I don't recall that Katrina did much to South Florida. It was Wilma that was a cat 3 that took out our power for a week and wreaked havoc.

LOL, you should have been in LA on July 29th. First measurable in some time. I think it was a 5.4 or something like that, epicenter just outside Chino. You'd have thought there was nothing else going on the way these news stations were all over it. It wasn't like a jolt, just a slow rolling "oh crap...", know what I mean?

For the record, I'm still not prepared... Sorry, were you here for Northridge?
