For those of you who were unable to be there in person, you can hear me read an excerpt from my short story “Odalisque<\/a>” (from my anthology Foreign Affairs: Erotic Travel Tales<\/em>), which took place at Shakespeare & Company Booksellers<\/a> in Vienna, Austria on 17 July 2009. This had to be the hottest night of the year, but thanks to Teddy<\/a>, copious glasses of mineral water, and a bit of unexpected inspiration from the synagogue next door (now that’s MY secret!), I managed to survive without melting away completely!
